Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she moved to Oxfordshire around the age of five, she enrolled in the Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma was aware she was going to become an actor and for many years she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied the art of acting and dancing. By the age of ten she was performing and taking the lead in various Stagecoach productions and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The movie adaptation from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was filmed for first time in 1999. Emma was found by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. After eight consistent auditions director David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been selected to play the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's film debut came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The highest-grossing movie of 2001 it set new records for its opening day sales as well as opening weekend takings. Critics were impressed with the film and its performance. The highly distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Emma's performance was nominated and won five awards later in the film.
